No, not 'the only way is up'...

Hi I’m Yasmin but most people nowadays call me Yazz.  There was a time in my life when I hated that, all I’d hear was references to that singer from the eighties with the bleached blonde hair and plastic population but I like it now.

I’m from Fife and a very proud Fifer at that!  You should see me whenever I hear The Proclaimers playing, I feel the need to go round and tell everyone listening to them that they’re fellow Fifers and they started their career working in a chippy, or chipper, in Auchtermuchty!  I think I might have ordered a fried pizza from them at one time in my life…..

I started working in radio at about 16 years of age when I used to give up my Saturday mornings to answer phones for one of the DJs at Radio Forth in Edinburgh.  Loved it!  Then Fife got it’s very own radio station and I managed to get my foot in the door there.  I worked for no money for a long time - for the love of radio - friends thought I was mad but it ended up paying off in the long run.  I then left there and worked in various stations across the country and now adding Aberdeen to the list.

I love music and if I’m not playing it on the radio, I’m listening to it on my iPod or going to gigs.  Some of the best acts I’ve seen live include Oasis, The Killers and Mika.

If I’m not working I’m usually trying to hold a note down my local Karaoke bar, watching Top Gear – not just for the cars but also for Captain Slow aka James May.  I also spend time trying to convince friends to come on a Club 18-30 holiday with me!  I’m wasting my breath, not been able to do it since 2005!  Ah the memories….
